Traffic Clothing was founded at the beginning of 1994, by Linda Bartholomew, her mother Shirley Goodall and an associate Ishara Singh. The Company began with a staff compliment of 10 people, most of whom had been retrenched from Coventry Clothing, on the closure of the Girls wear division. With limited funding and a lot of courage the three remarkable ladies decided to start their own business.
Linda headed up the team, of 10 staff in a cramped 400sqm rented premises off Sydney Road, Congella in central Durban. Traffic Clothing was in business supplying Girls wear to the major chain groups.
In the first year of business Traffic managed to achieve their targeted R10 million turnover.
The business has survived the many ups and downs of a growing Company with limited resources. Several years later and Traffic now employs
over 100 people and works directly with 30 ‘local' CMT's. Thereby indirectly contributing to the employment of a further
2500 people in Southern Africa. Traffic now delivers in excess of 5 000 000 garments per annum to the local South African market.
We are now one of the leading Girls wear suppliers in the South African market.
The Women's wear division was started in 2004 at the request of existing
customers requiring the Traffic service philosophy. This is an exciting
growth area of the business.
Traffic remains a preferred supplier of Fashionable Women's and Children's wear to the major chain stores in Southern Africa.
Establish Traffic as the purveyor of the finest global contemporary African lifestyle apparel brand.
Maintain our uncompromising principles as we grow.
